1. Who we are
Leon Electricians Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales operating as an electrical contractor across Greater London. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website, over the phone, by email and during the delivery of our electrical services. This notice explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
2. What personal data we collect
- Contact details: name, phone number, email address, and property postcode.
- Job details: service requested (emergency callout, EICR, fuse-board upgrade, rewire, etc.), urgency, preferred date and a description of the electrical issue.
- Property details: address of the property where work is required, type of tenure (owner-occupier, landlord, tenant, commercial), and details of the existing installation where relevant.
- Certification records: data required for Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs), Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates (MEIWCs) and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) issued in your name under BS 7671.
- Payment information: billing name, address and payment reference. Card details are processed directly by our payment provider - we do not store full card numbers.
- Photographs: images you upload of an electrical problem, plus photos we take on site of the installation, consumer unit, meter position and completed work for our job records.
- Website data: IP address, browser type, device, referring URL and pages viewed, collected via cookies and analytics (see section 9).
3. How we use your personal data
- Respond to enquiries, provide written quotations and confirm bookings.
- Deliver the electrical services you have instructed us to carry out.
- Issue and store EICs, MEIWCs, EICRs and PAT test records in your name.
- Notify notifiable work to Building Control through our Competent Person Scheme where required under Part P of the Building Regulations.
- Raise invoices and manage payments.
- Comply with legal, regulatory, health and safety and insurance obligations.
- Handle warranty claims and complaints under our 12-month workmanship guarantee.
- Improve our website, service quality and safety record.
- Send occasional service reminders (for example when your EICR is due for renewal), where you have opted in.
4. Our lawful basis for processing
Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Contract (Article 6(1)(b)): to prepare a quotation and deliver the services you have requested.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): to keep certification, tax and health and safety records required by HMRC, HSE, Building Regulations and the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): to respond to enquiries, prevent fraud, defend legal claims and improve our services. We have assessed these interests against your rights.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): for non-essential analytics cookies and for service-reminder marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time.
5. Who we share your data with
We only share personal data with trusted providers who help us run our business:
- Competent Person Scheme provider (for example NICEIC, NAPIT or a comparable scheme) - to notify notifiable electrical work to Local Authority Building Control.
- Hosting, database and email providers used to run this website and send booking confirmations.
- Accountants and tax advisors for bookkeeping and HMRC reporting.
- Insurers and legal advisors where required to handle a claim or dispute.
- Regulators, courts and law enforcement where we are legally required to disclose information.
We never sell your personal data and we do not share it with third-party marketers.
6. International transfers
Our servers and business systems are hosted within the UK and European Economic Area (EEA). Where a supplier processes data outside the UK/EEA we rely on UK-approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum.
7. How long we keep your data
- Website enquiries and quotations: up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Job records, EICs, EICRs and certificates: at least 6 years, in line with BS 7671, insurer requirements and the Limitation Act 1980.
- Invoices and accounting records: at least 6 years to comply with HMRC.
- Employer / landlord safety records: retained for the period required by the relevant regulations, typically 6 years.
- Complaints: up to 6 years after resolution.
- Marketing consents: until you unsubscribe or 3 years of inactivity, whichever is sooner.
8. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (right of access).
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data (rectification).
- Ask us to delete your data where we no longer need it (erasure).
- Restrict or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Ask us to transfer your data to another provider in a machine-readable format (portability).
- Withdraw consent for analytics or marketing at any time.
- Not be subject to automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect. We do not carry out this type of processing.

9. Cookies and website analytics
This website uses strictly necessary cookies to make the site work, and Google Analytics (with anonymised IP addresses) to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Analytics cookies are set only where you consent and do not identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; if you do, some parts of the site may not work as intended.
10. Marketing communications
We may send you occasional service reminders (for example, when your rental EICR is due for renewal) where you have opted in. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. We never send unsolicited marketing to consumers by SMS or email in breach of PECR.
11. Security
We store personal data on access-controlled UK/EEA servers with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to authorised staff who need it to deliver our services. We carry professional indemnity and cyber liability insurance and review our security measures regularly.
12. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be notified on our homepage.
